Roche, a leading pharmaceutical company, sought to enhance the management and delivery of e-learning for their ‘Coaguchek’ products. The goal was to improve the hosting, maintenance, and user management processes within their Moodle platform.
Project Challenge
Roche needed a reliable partner to take over Moodle hosting and maintenance from a previous provider. Additionally, they required a rebranding of their e-learning platform to align with their ‘Coaguchek’ product marketing. A critical component of this project was the implementation of a decentralized user management system for anticoagulation clinics (providers of thrombosis services), allowing them to independently manage patient accounts.

- Moodle Hosting and Maintenance: Seamlessly transitioned Moodle hosting and maintenance from the previous provider, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted experience.
- Platform Rebranding: Implemented a custom Moodle theme to rebrand the platform in line with Roche’s ‘Coaguchek’ marketing materials, creating a cohesive and engaging user experience.
- Decentralized User Management Plugin: Developed a bespoke plugin tailored to the specific needs of Roche’s anticoagulation clinics. The plugin facilitates efficient user management while maintaining strict data segregation.
Key features of the plugin include:
- User Account Creation: Anticoagulation clinics can create new user accounts by entering first name, last name, email address (serving as the username), and selecting the appropriate e-learning module (course) for enrollment.
- Automated Enrollment and Notifications: New users are automatically enrolled in the selected course, assigned to a separate group, and added to the relevant cohort. They receive an email with a temporary password and a link to the course.
- User Self-Management: Users follow the link to change their temporary password and are directed to the appropriate course.
- Secure Data Management: Each anticoagulation clinic can manage only their own patients, ensuring patient data is never visible to other clinics.
- Comprehensive User Management Interface: The plugin includes a paginated list of users with options to search, edit, and delete user records. New users can be added through a straightforward interface that captures necessary details.
